Meet Ciera!

Ciera Lathe - Group Fitness Trainer

Ciera has been around athletics and fitness her whole entire life. Over the years she partook in diving, volleyball, swimming, CrossFit, weightlifting, and crew. She swam for most of her life and coached about four years for the team she was competing on. When she went to college she got her degree in Psychology and began a new adventure into college athletics. She rowed for four years, winning various awards and achievements, and coached for about three years before moving back home to Sacramento.

While in college, Ciera began working at the campus gym as a strength and conditioning coach. She gained a plethora of knowledge and experience that has established her attitude toward coaching. Ciera is forever grateful for her coach and boss for giving her the opportunity to learn under their wings. Her philosophy and love for fitness has changed and expanded over the years and is forever evolving, but Ciera’s main goal is to help minimize injuries and bad habits from forming in a fun, educational, and inclusive environment!

Ciera's Wellness Profile

What sets Inspired Wellness Apart?

Inspired Wellness is a different gym environment that truly pays attention to their members and wants to help aide them in all ways of their lives; not just their physical fitness.

What is Your Overall Wellness Philosophy?

My overall wellness philosophy focuses a lot on mental health. One’s physical body is important to keep healthy for obvious reasons, but if our minds are clouded and fogged we as a whole begin to suffer. Learning to be kind and supportive of one’s self and mind helps get oneself farther in life in every category that you can think of!

Favorite Workout Tunes?

I love music and surround a lot of my free time finding new genres or artists to expand my musical palette. If I had to choose a favorite genre to workout to, it would either be rock or 70’s/80’s funk. Some of my favorite artists to listen to are Breaking Benjamin and Earth, Wind, and Fire, but my overall favorite tune would have to be Given Up by Linkin Park.

Latest Accomplishment?

My latest accomplishment was going through all of my belongings and donated items that I haven’t used or needed anymore. This may not be the biggest task to accomplish, but I feel a whole lot lighter being surrounded by objects that truly make me happy or I use on a daily basis, not just things to fill a void and take up unnecessary space.

Teaching Style In 3 Words:

Supportive. Communicative. Informative.

Favorite Exercises:

My favorite exercises revolve around a barbell. I have been weightlifting for so long that going a couple days at a time without using one is tough! I love doing clean and snatch progression style workouts, but I am not opposed to doing some cardio (as long as it involved carrying or pulling something heavy).

Hobbies:

I thoroughly enjoy cooking and exploring nature. I have been getting back into cooking again and it is one of the main parts of the day that I look forward to. Whenever I can, I go outside as much as possible. I luckily live close enough to multiple parks and do not live too far away from beautiful hiking and biking trails that I frequent often.

Favorite Wellness Quote:

My favorite wellness quote is, “Your body hears everything your mind says.” –Naomi Judd
Being an athlete my whole life, mind over matter is something that becomes the biggest part of being successful. Learning how to positively talk to yourself and push past your existing boundaries takes a lot of will power, but once it becomes a natural habit, life as a whole becomes a lot easier.
