October 2016 Member Profile: Chris!

Every month we feature our awesome members. They are inspirational, they rock and we wouldn’t be where we are without their continued support of our wellness movement. Our October Member Profile is Chris!

What’s your favorite wellness quote?
“ Make every place Disneyland. ” – Me

What are some of your favorite exercises?
Jogging, Walking, Hiking, Kettle Bells. Don’t really mind any exercise except for froggers, lunges and burpees (which research has found were created by the devil).

What motivates you to stay healthy?
I have Diabetes and getting fit has actually allowed for my Doctor to take me off of insulin and just use an oral medication. So there’s that. Plus, staying healthy helps me keep up with my 9 year old son, have more energy all around and maintain a more positive outlook (most of the time).

What do you do to stay balanced in your daily life (hobbies)?
I write (I also do it for work, but it’s fun, so its never seems like work). For me, writing, allows me to almost put the pause button on life and look at what I did, how I can improve, and where I’m going. I also like to hear what different people feel and have to say about everything under the sun (and it helps me with my job). I also draw and enjoy doing anything creative. Trying new things in general. Of course spending time with my son, family and friends.

If this food/meal were the last available on Earth and you were the lucky recipient, what would it be?
Pizza. Really any kind or maker, because with pizza, even when its bad, its still pretty good. But if I had to pick it would be a thick crust combination pizza with extra cheese and a side of ranch. Throw in a diet coke for good measure.

What are three of your upcoming goals NOW, in one year and in five years?
NOW – Get my blog back up and running, 1 year – Have acquired an agent or funding to write a book, 5 years – Working on my second or third book.

What are some songs currently on your playlist?
“Werewolves of London” Warren Zevon, “What’s So Funny (About Peace, Love, and Understanding)” Nick Lowe, “Let it Be” The Beatles, “Window In The Skies” U2, “Fall On Me” R.E.M., “The Harder They Come” Jimmy Cliff, “Wrote A Song For Everyone” Credence Clearwater Revival, “Ball & Chain” Social Distortion, “Love’s Made A Fool of You” Bobby Fuller Four and practically any upbeat, top 40 single from the 80s.

What do you do for fun locally?
Favorite restaurant: Cafe Dantorels (how convenient!), Favorite Bar: Hideaway. Love browsing used book stores and record stores, hiking, concerts, festivals, museums, art galleries. I just tried out kayaking and since I didn’t fall in the water, I’d like to do it more.

Describe yourself in 3 words:
Confident, Insecure, Dreamer

How has Inspired Wellness impacted your life?
Quite a lot actually. Along with the aforementioned medical and energy improvements and meeting some interesting and inspiring people, I think coming here has just made me a happier person. Can’t ask for more.
