5 Top Mindfulness Apps

In my quest for mindfulness, I’ve found that rather than trying to fight technology I should embrace it. This doesn’t mean endless social media scrolls and swipes (still working on that), but using the power of my phone to tap into amazing mindfulness tools at any moment.

Personally, I’m a fan of Insight Timer, but in doing my research for this blog post I discovered even more gems I’m excited to integrate into my daily practice. There are so many to choose from! Below are 5 (including Insight) that you will find helpful on your mindfulness journey:

Insight Timer

This app has THOUSANDS of free meditations and teachings. I use it daily for meditations as quick as 3 minutes all the way to an hour or more. I also love that it helps the practitioner build an audience of their own by linking to their social media profiles where you can get more once they’ve piqued your interest. I generally swing toward binaural beats or kundalini meditation, but there are options on the app for any style/preference.

Aura

“Whenever you’re stressed & anxious or having trouble sleeping, Aura will find mindfulness meditations, life coaching, stories, and music, created by the best therapists and coaches, personalized just for you. It takes just 3 minutes to feel better, and Aura will continuously learn about what helps you and improve the recommendations.”

Buddhify

While other meditation apps need you to find ten or twenty minutes of quiet time per day, we know that even that can be a struggle to fit into an already busy day. That is why buddhify focusses on mobile or on-the-go meditation, which you can do wherever you are and whatever you’re doing. We do still have more traditional formal meditations, but they are there for when you have time.”
Calm

“Apple’s choice for iPhone app of the year is all about meditation, soothing music and getting to sleep.”
Headspace

“Learning to meditate is like learning any other skill. Think of it like exercising a muscle that you’ve never really worked out before. It takes consistent practice to get comfortable. And it’s usually easier if you have a teacher. We’ve got you covered there.”

There you have it; 5 great options to choose from. Which one do you plan on trying? Let me know in the comments!
