What’s your favorite wellness quote?
Para mí sólo recorrer los caminos que tienen corazón, cualquier camino que tenga corazón. Por ahí yo recorro, y la única prueba que vale es atravesar todo su largo. Y por ahí yo recorro mirando, mirando, sin aliento.

My translation:
For me, there is only traveling on paths with heart, any path that has a heart. There [on that path] I travel, and the only test is to travel it’s whole length. And there I travel… looking, observing, breathlessly. This quote first resonated with me back in 2004, when I was a student at UC Davis. Over time and through life experiences, I have grown more and more to appreciate this saying, unfold its meaning, and connect with my path of heart.

What are some of your favorite exercises?
Burpees, box jumps, planks, and a lovely jog around the block.

What motivates you to stay healthy?
Maintaining a healthy body, mind, and soul; to make the most out of the present, and to live my best life.

What do you do to stay balanced in your daily life (hobbies)?
Therapy, workout, journal, go for a hike, spend time with friends and family. Trying to reconnect with my creative self: play my mandolin, paint, throw ceramics.

If this food/meal were the last available on Earth and you were the lucky recipient, what would it be?
Anything! As long as I’m with good company. I have no known allergies and I’m not a picky eater. I’m also lucky to be able put food on my table every day. For this reason, my last meal really could be anything (like baguette and cheese) as long as I could cherish it with family, friends, love and laughter.

What are three of your upcoming goals NOW, in one year and in five years?
Now: build consistency and balance in my weekly routine; be mindful to include exercise and other activities so I can be mentally balanced and strong while pursuing higher education and career goals.

1 Year: I will be half way thru grad school! I will have a thesis topic identified, on something which I am passionate about. Additionally, I will have career goals/connections developing. One year from now, I will continue maintaining a weekly routine, that includes exercise, which will help keep my body, mind, and soul balanced while juggling a work/school schedule.

5 Years: I will have achieved my dream job! …or, might be continue higher education… 🙂 I will also continue my fitness goals, and probably have taken them to the next level!

What are some songs currently on your playlist?
Beyonce’s “Homecoming”, John Mayer Trio “TRY”, Allman Brothers “Eat A Peach”, Grateful Dead’s “American Beauty”, Beatles “Rubber Soul”, Bob Marley & the Wailers “Legend”.

What do you do for fun locally?
For fun, I like to spend time with family and friends, and go out for an adventure (hiking, exploring, finding water to jump into), or outdoor event (like all the fun events we have in Sac and SF).  This past year I’ve been reconnecting with myself to rediscover fun… what it is and what it means to me!

Describe yourself in 3 words:
Positive, persistent, proactive.

How has Inspired Wellness impacted your life?
I’m new to the Sacramento region. I moved here last summer and I joined IW last fall. Moving to a new city, and embarking on a new life is exciting, challenging, scary, and rewarding. Joining IW has been important to helping make this move, and make my transformation feel rewarding. Inspired Wellness has impacted my life by not only adding physical fitness to my weekly lifestyle, but also the act of participating in classes at IW surrounds me in a positive atmosphere, gives me a space for an outlet to exercise a healthy coping mechanism for stress/anxiety release, and raises my self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth by making me feel empowered: proud of myself, of my accomplishments, and of my surroundings! I’m proud to be a member of this community in Sac and at IW! Thank You!
