How To Stop Dieting

Take a second and think about most diets on the market today. Show of hands, what’s the #1 thing they all promise? If you chose weight loss, ding ding ding – you are CORRECT! Now, let’s dig a little deeper. What’s something they don’t normally incorporate? If you said food knowledge, you would be correct. Understanding why you embark on a journey is critically important, and yet this fundamental tool is missing from 99% of the diet tool belts of the world.

From a profit perspective, it makes sense. Why tell you all about the harmful effects of processed foods if the very foods said “diets” are prescribing, contain a laundry list of harmful ingredients? That would be downright silly for the bottom line.

And so, fed up with the market’s atrocious teachings, the Cleanse30 program was born.

When creating it, Sham’s sole intention was to help cure/manage chronic conditions:

* Gas/Bloating
* Fatigue
* Headaches
* Mood swings
* Hormonal imbalances
* Insomnia
* … and SO much more

Countless clients came to him, having tried everything and failed, wondering why they couldn’t seem to make anything stick, and even worse they still didn’t understand the harmful effects of processed foods. And so they got into a cycle of hundred calorie snack packs, sugar drenched shakes, and empty promises. Just like you can’t drive a car for long on fumes, your body can’t be expected to go on forever with subpar, “dead” food that’s sapping vital nutrients instead of providing them.

Through thousands of case studies, Sham discovered some helpful insights we’re going to share today. These insights are of value to anyone wanting to change things up and rewire the cycle. Think of these tips as a way to shift perspective from “going on a diet” to “changing your life for good”. Because, when we build foundational habits and mindsets, that’s something we can return to forever.

Sustainable weight loss happens once the body can catch a break. i.e., no more processed foods devoid of any real nutritional value and crazy crash weight loss programs and options. Notice we said sustainable. Anyone can lose twenty pounds in six weeks. But what’s the likelihood of that weight staying off? When we yo-yo back and forth between the latest and greatest gadget, diet or all of the above, our body is sent on a rollercoaster and is left to hang on for dear life (sometimes literally). There’s a reason the basics have been around forever and are still touted as beneficial: they WORK! But, you have to work, too, which isn’t appealing if you’ve been stuck in a quick fix state of mind. Once you release yourself from this stance, a refreshing world of possibility opens up.

Knowledge = conviction and this is something that stays with you forever, even when you “fall off the wagon”. Learning about what different foods do to the body allows you to be a real human being and choose foods mindfully (even the ones that don’t do your body any good). There is something incredibly powerful about going to the grocery store and being fully informed about the majority of ingredients on the shelf. Stop and take a moment to appreciate how this knowledge improves your life and helps you make decisions that heal instead of harm. Conversely, if you indulge in something on the unhealthy spectrum, you can be fully aware of the aftermath and have no question in your mind about the reaction your body has to it, versus wondering about seemingly “random” ailments that correlate with food.

Traditional diets focus on restriction and starving your body into submission; not on healthy eating and consuming foods for their nutritional value. When the sole measure of success is the scale, that’s a scary reality. There are many ways to lose weight and still be completely unhealthy. Being obsessed with numbers when it comes to weight loss is really boring. REALLY boring. And we promise you’ll get bored, too, in about 2.5 seconds. The only time we recommend counting calories is when you’re in maintenance mode and choose to eat processed foods every now and again. Because these are “empty” calories it’s much easier to go overboard as they don’t provide the same level of sustenance as natural, whole foods. Other than that, we believe that food should be an experience, and it should be enjoyable. Obsessing over the numbers eventually, wears you out and leads to reverting back to unhealthy habits. When you get in sync with your body and natural, whole foods, you’ll learn how to listen to what it needs instead of eating out of obligation and addiction.

There will be many NSVs (NonScale Victories) to celebrate on your journey when you take the focus away from solely weight loss. When weight loss is simply one piece of a larger puzzle, the journey is so much more enjoyable! Here are just a few of the NSVs past and current clients have achieved:

* Clothes fitting looser
* Inflammation decreased or eliminated
* Body fat percentage decreasing
* Medication elimination
* Mood doesn’t feel like such a rollercoaster
* Increased mental clarity
* Increased energy
* Increased happiness
* Increased confidence
* Chronic autoimmune conditions improving and/or going into remission
* Hormonal imbalances suddenly shifting in a positive direction
* Impressive knowledge of how food works in the body and how to make healthy food choices

How can we NOT celebrate all of these awesome accomplishments!?

There’s something about a ‘reset’ of the body. When you take things away in order to heal, you’re left with a clean slate from which to improve upon. Suddenly the “maybes” evaporate and the puzzle pieces finally fit. Experiencing this shift in real time is powerful and life changing. You natural learn how to start listening to what your body is telling you, and honor your journey; the ups, the downs and the in-betweens.

The “restriction for life” mentality never works. That’s not what the cleanse is about. It’s about finding your personal kryptonite and learning how to make mindful decisions. Maybe you learn that dairy causes major stomach upset, so going forward you decide you’ll only have it on special occasions versus daily. It’s not about restricting for the sake of restricting … there’s a purpose, and that purpose is to help you feel as amazing as you are. When you understand what food does to your body, you don’t have to “guess” anymore, and your decisions are then rooted in firsthand experience!
