Making Strides, Shattering Goals

Every month, we wipe away the prior month’s goals and give members a chance to write down a fresh objective on the “goal board”. Doesn’t matter how big or small it is; the point is to make our intentions come alive by putting them out there for others to see. Recently, one of our longtime members and successful graduate of our Cleanse30 and Lifestyle Transformation program, Kelly, shared a moving testimonial to the power of perseverance.

Best of all, she gave us all a reminder about why we show up to a challenging workout day in and day out, despite the excuses we attempt to make: the results follow us long after the workout is done, and we grow in variety of ways.

From Kelly:
“My goal on the board this month was to cycle 30-65 miles with my dad. This was a life goal, not just a monthly goal. We have always wanted to ride a century together. My dad is 69 years old. I am turning 40 this week. We decided we should start with a metric century (around 62 miles). He flew in from the East Coast and shipped his bike, and yesterday, we completed the Hopland Harvest Ride! Forget 30 miles, that was me hedging my bets. It was definitely not easy, especially tackling the biggest hill after my chain came off and I had a derailleur issue. I was stuck in one gear for the last 20 miles! But that is why we boot camp, right? For that moment when you have one gear, one goal and a really big hill up ahead. I was strong, I was ready and it was time to just get on the bike and ride.”
