Take a break: You need it!

Sometimes, taking a break and stepping out of your usual routine (temporarily) is what you need to do to find your dynamism to get your goals achieved!

Our society encourages pushing it hard and never giving up. Both of those things are super important I agree because we all are wired to make things happen right?

But in our belief system we agree that: “To everything, there is a season ….”

If you put a lot of work into something, you also need to make time to “recharge” and get the energy you put out back.

Taking time to rest is absolutely OKAY and not to be guilty about. On the contrary, it’s a KEY part of being a productive and healthy person.

If you’re like us who values taking breaks to tell you what, when you do that to yourself you often come back more inspired, with fresh ideas to make improvements, and with more energy to take on your day.

It’s important to recharge, take a break, or rest from the routine, and the demands of life to keep stress levels in check. Keep in mind that you’re not shirking responsibility when you do that but you’re only taking the responsibility to take care of yourself, so you’ll have the stamina to be your best.

Another important thing we want you to understand is being able to identify and listen to your body when it’s calling in for a break, rest, or recharge, that’s the time that you must schedule some time away that will help you feel more refreshed and restored.

Here are key signs that you need a break:

  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Getting sick more frequently
  • Fuzzy headed
  • Lack of energy
  • Lack of motivation
  • Frustration
  • Sleep deprivation
  • Constant headaches or stomachaches
  • Using drugs or alcohol as stress relief
  • Intentionally withdrawing from friends, family, or co-workers

If any of the above resonates, your body is calling in for help and this means that you must start planning some downtime like a real vacation or even just a weekend staycation to recharge your batteries.

What are some ways to recharge your batteries? It doesn’t mean getting laid back sleeping on the couch and bingeing an entire season of a show although this is very common – and we are guilt ourselves!

For some people, it might mean unplugging, making time for something FUN, like playing sports, if you live somewhere snowy skiing is a great outdoor activity or if you live in the orange county swimming, or hitting a flea market to poke around for unique finds is just as FUN!

Here are some simple ways to take a break:

  • Bubble baths FTW!
  • Whole-body MASSAGE because why not?
  • Book Reading
  • A walk outside getting some fresh air
  • Playing with your children or pets
  • Doing something creative: play music, woodwork, cook, anything crafty, etc.
  • Going to a movie
  • Gardening or working on your yard projects
  • A weekend getaway – rent an AirBnB is also ideal!
  • Power NAPS!

It isn’t rocket science – it’s more about permitting yourself just to BE. Doesn’t that sound amazing?

If you’ve read this far, please put in the comments below and let us know if you’re going to do something intentional this week for yourself by taking a break. We always love hearing from you!

I never feel I have time for breaks… LOL but I do always manage to take advantage and get some good time in with my kids and my family 😉 It truly is so important to give your self some me time… and I alway love catching up on a good book or binge watching a favorite TV show that I love… not my husband when I manage to make some time for me 😉

Know when to stop working. That’s what I keep hearing, and agreeing to in theory, but here I am at 11pm on the computer getting ready to get some work done. It’s a never ending cycle if you let it be.

It can be hard, but we have to learn to take breaks. It’s important to both our mental and physical health. This I know from experience. Thanks for sharing!
